Summary

Under limited supervision, perform installation, troubleshooting and repair of customer fiber and equipment for high-speed internet services, customer premises equipment (CPE) (i.e., ONU Device, Plume Device, Routers, etc.) for residential market including the repair and replacement of equipment in the field. This role will perform tasks that may involve physical labor under the general supervision from a site leader, perform basic functions supporting the construction of underground buried fiber systems. It may consist of operating hand and power tools of all types, cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, cleaning up rubble and debris.

Core Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Performs installation and troubleshooting/repair of customer fiber equipment for high-speed internet services customer premises equipment (CPE) (i.e., Modem, ONU’s, Plume Devices, etc.).
  • Perform assigned duties in compliance with company policies, specifications and those applicable to the requirements of OSHA, FCC, NEC, and other local ordinances.
  • Possess knowledge of appropriate testing equipment (e.g., signal level meters, fusion splicer, PON meter, toners, ohm meters, CLI detection meters, etc.)
  • Maintain daily records, logs, receipts, and other necessary documents as applicable.
  • Participate in scheduled on-call (stand-by) duties for providing technical support in repairing data connectivity problems and internet during non-business hours.
  • Maintain a professional and appropriate image with the community through appearance and demeanor while always exercising professional driving habits and quality customer interactions.
  • Assists in pre-wiring and pre-installation activities
  • Dig trenches and removes soil prior to fiber installation
  • Blows fiber to vaults and customer premises
  • Verify conduit locations, depth, and integrity
  • Locates and mark fiber and conduits to protect our infrastructure and critical assets
  • Ability to recognize potential problems utilizing approved test and measuring equipment
  • Obtain equipment and supplies, and stocks vehicle; maintains company truck
  • May work weekends and overtime as requested by immediate supervisor to meet the needs of company and customers.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma and/or Equivalent Work Experience or combination of both
  • Valid Driver’s License and Satisfactory Driving Record
  • Generally, requires 3+ years of field technical operations and/or network construction or related experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • A combination of both technical operations and construction experience is preferred.
